The planned inauguration of the newly elected state executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State did not hold on Thursday as earlier scheduled.

The swearing-in ceremony was slated to take place at the Dome Event Centre in Akure but was suspended at the last minute following developments surrounding the party’s recent state congress.

Sources from Abuja told Starnews NG that the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was advised by the party’s national leadership to put the inauguration on hold pending the resolution of issues linked to the congress.

According to the sources, the ceremony may only go ahead after the legal and procedural concerns surrounding the congress are resolved and proper validation is obtained.

It was also learnt that the governor was scolded by some leaders of the party for not properly managing the situation that led to chaos during the congress. The incident reportedly claimed two lives while several others sustained injuries.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who arrived in Akure on Thursday with some aides and leaders of the APC after a series of meetings with the party’s national leadership in Abuja, is yet to officially address party leaders in the state over the development.

More details later…
