2Baba, the Nigerian singer whose real name is Innocent Idibia, has met with Nigeria’s minister of defence, Christopher Musa, to discuss a youth-focused initiative aimed at tackling violence through music and cultural engagement.
The meeting, announced in an Instagram post on Saturday, focused on a proposed programme designed to promote positive values among young Nigerians by using entertainment as a tool for social reorientation.
According to the singer, he visited the minister alongside members of his strategic team to brief him on the initiative and explore ways music could help counter violent narratives among the country’s youth.
“I had the honour of meeting with Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Defence, General CG Musa, alongside my strategic team to explore how music can help counter violent narratives among young Nigerians,” he wrote.
2Baba said the initiative is built around a culture-driven approach that seeks to transform entertainment into a platform for social impact and youth development.
He added that the programme aims to spark meaningful conversations, empower young creatives, and redirect the energy of Nigeria’s large youth population toward nation-building.
“With over 150 million young people in Nigeria, many vulnerable to negative influences, initiatives like this are important to spark meaningful conversations, empower creative talent, and channel youth energy toward nation-building,” he said.
Although the operational details and official name of the proposed initiative were not disclosed, the engagement highlights the singer’s continued involvement in youth advocacy and social development.
In 2017, 2Baba launched the ‘Vote Not Fight’ campaign in partnership with the Youngstars Foundation and the National Democratic Institute to promote peaceful elections in Nigeria.
