Nigerian actor Abiodun Ayoyinka has opened up about the challenges he has faced since skyrocketing to fame as the beloved comic character Papa Ajasco.

In a candid interview with media personality Lucky Udu, Ayoyinka revealed that the very role that brought him national recognition has also become a barrier to his career growth. “The major problem why people are not seeing me where they are supposed to see me is because that particular character, Papa Ajasco, has been registered by Wale Adenuga, and anyone who wants to work with me outside that character has never made it easy for me,” he explained.

He added, “I don’t have the right to use the name Papa Ajasco unless I go and take permission. I can’t even wear the costume. Because of this, I’ve had limited opportunities, as people only see me as Papa Ajasco and not as Yinka [his real name].”

Beyond his professional struggles, Ayoyinka shared a glimpse into his personal hardships. “Things have never been okay for years. I don’t even have a car of my own or a house,” he admitted, highlighting the financial and emotional toll of being forever linked to a single character.

Despite decades of fame, Ayoyinka continues to grapple with establishing his own identity in the entertainment industry—a reminder that stardom often comes with unseen challenges behind the laughter.
