A 54-year-old man, Nureni Rauf, was on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the alleged theft of five goats valued at N300,000.
Rauf is facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, dangerous driving and causing bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Funmilayo Ige, told the court that Rauf and others still at large allegedly committed the offences on July 24, 2026, at about 10 a.m. in the Oloje, Ireakari area of Soka, Ibadan.
According to the prosecution, Rauf allegedly stole the five goats belonging to the complainant, Dauda Oyakojo, and attempted to escape in a Toyota Corolla with registration number AKD 173 JU.
The prosecutor further alleged that Rauf drove recklessly during the escape and used the vehicle to injure one Tasiu Hassan.
The alleged offences contravene provisions of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State and relevant road traffic laws.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted Rauf bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum. One surety must own a building, while the other must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case was adjourned until October 14, 2026, for hearing.
