The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Tinubu that the release of documents reportedly held by the United States could create serious political challenges for his bid for a second term in 2027.
Ayodele made the claim in a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, amid ongoing legal proceedings in the United States concerning access to records relating to the President.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is among those seeking access to the documents through legal proceedings in the US.
According to Ayodele, Tinubu should not underestimate the potential impact of the matter, alleging that some individuals working to prevent the release of the records could be misleading the President.
“If those documents come out, it will end Tinubu’s second term because the power behind it is heavy,” the cleric said.
He further claimed that the United States could release the records whenever its government decides to do so.
“If America is ready, they will release it, and that’s why I said America is one of Tinubu’s problems. The documents are there, and there are plans to release it,” he said.
Ayodele urged the President to take additional steps to prevent the alleged documents from becoming public, claiming that there were already plans for their release.
The cleric also predicted wider political consequences if the records were eventually made public, saying the development could affect the 2027 electoral process.
“If this document comes out, an interim government is imminent, and there will be a serious effect on the election,” he claimed.
However, Ayodele did not provide evidence to substantiate his claims about the contents of the documents, the alleged plans for their release or the possibility of an interim government.
