Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod has blamed the poor emergency response to a road accident along the Ibadan–Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State on the unavailability of ambulances.
Afod raised the concern in a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, 6 November 2026, after witnessing the accident. He appealed to the Ogun State Government, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other relevant agencies to improve emergency response and provide ambulances for accident victims.
The actor said he spent about 20 minutes at the scene without seeing an ambulance or emergency rescue team arrive, despite efforts by people around to contact the appropriate authorities.
Afod described the situation as distressing, noting that injured victims were left lying on the road while members of the public waited for help. He questioned the government’s preparedness to respond promptly to emergencies and stressed the importance of having ambulances available on major highways.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) later confirmed that 13 people were injured in the crash, which involved a Mazda bus carrying 18 occupants.
According to TRACE, the accident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. after a tyre reportedly burst, causing the driver to lose control. The bus overturned and struck a concrete barrier.
TRACE said its rescue team and FRSC personnel eventually arrived at the scene, while the injured victims—two men, eight women and three children—were taken to three hospitals for treatment. No deaths were recorded.
The agency added that the concrete barrier prevented the bus from plunging into a deep ditch and that the rescue operation did not disrupt traffic.
Afod’s comments have drawn attention to the need for functional ambulances and faster emergency response services for road accident victims across Ogun State.
