Vanessa Trump has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has already begun treatment.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Vanessa said the diagnosis was “not news anyone expects,” while thanking her doctors for a medical procedure carried out earlier this week.
“I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me,” she wrote.
She also expressed gratitude to supporters for their kindness and prayers, while requesting privacy as she focuses on her recovery journey.
Vanessa was previously married to Donald Trump Jr. for 13 years before their divorce in 2018. The former couple share five children together.
Health experts continue to stress the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, regular screenings such as mammograms can significantly improve treatment outcomes when cancer is detected early.
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends that women between the ages of 40 and 74 who are at average risk should undergo a mammogram every two years.
Other screening methods, including MRIs and clinical examinations, may also help with detection.
