Lere Olayinka, aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has mocked Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, after resurfacing an old video allegedly showing the governor criticising and comparing the former Rivers governor to a “barking dog” during the peak of their political crisis.
The aide reportedly shared the video on social media while reacting to recent political developments in Rivers State, reigniting public debate over the prolonged political tension between both camps.
The resurfaced clip has continued generating mixed reactions from supporters of both leaders across social media platforms.
The political rift between Wike and Fubara has remained one of the most talked-about power struggles in Nigerian politics since the governor assumed office in 2023.
The disagreement has triggered divisions within the Rivers State political structure, affected the state assembly, and intensified political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Observers believe the resurfacing of the old video reflects the continuing battle for political relevance and influence within Rivers State, despite ongoing reconciliation efforts among some stakeholders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
