Apostle Joshua Aghasedo has sparked controversy after declaring that the use of adult toys by married couples does not constitute a sin.
The cleric, while speaking on the subject, argued that such devices could serve as aids to intimacy between couples and should be viewed within the context of marriage.
Aghasedo compared the devices with everyday technological equipment, questioning whether their use could automatically be regarded as sinful.
“Is using a sex toy a sin? Let’s hear the grace. Is driving a car a sin? Using the phone, is it a sin?” he asked.
The apostle, however, disclosed that he had never personally used an adult toy, describing it as “equipment” that could assist married couples.
“I have never used a sex toy. But in this modern day of technology, it’s equipment. It can help you do the job to 90 per cent, and you finish the remaining 10 per cent. I’m just being real. It can help you,” he said.
Aghasedo further revealed that he had previously recommended the use of an adult toy to a married couple after considering their circumstances.
“I have suggested a sex toy to a couple before, when I looked at all the surrounding circumstances, so that somebody is not going out and all those things. I’m not joking. It’s equipment to help the process,” he stated.
The cleric, however, emphasised that his position applied strictly to married couples.
“Sex toy is only for married couples. We are talking within the framework of marriage, not outside. It’s for married couples,” he said.
He added that his interpretation differed when such devices were used outside the marital context.
According to him, using them alone amounted to masturbation, which he associated with fornication under his religious interpretation.
The comments have since generated debate, particularly among Christians, with opinions divided over whether the use of adult toys within marriage should be considered acceptable from a religious perspective.
