United States President, Donald Trump, has vowed to “avenge” the deaths of three American service members killed during ongoing military operations linked to the escalating conflict with Iran.
In a video statement posted on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump described the fallen soldiers as patriots who made the “ultimate sacrifice” for their country.
“As one nation, we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” the president said.
The remarks come after the US military confirmed that three troops were killed in action while several others sustained serious injuries during operations targeting Iranian military assets across the Middle East.
According to US Central Command, the casualties occurred as part of Operation Epic Fury, an ongoing campaign following joint US-Israeli strikes against Iranian targets.
Trump said the United States would respond forcefully, stressing that the mission remains a “righteous” effort aimed at protecting American interests and allies in the region.
Rising regional tensions
The conflict intensified after coordinated strikes reportedly targeted key Iranian military installations, triggering retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Tehran against US positions and allied territories.
Military officials said major combat operations are continuing, with American forces maintaining a heightened state of readiness across strategic locations in the Middle East.
Analysts warn that the latest escalation risks widening the conflict beyond Iran and Israel, potentially drawing in additional regional actors and prolonging instability in global energy and security markets.
National mourning and military resolve
Trump urged Americans to remain united during the crisis, saying the nation stands behind its armed forces.
“We will honour their sacrifice and ensure their bravery is never forgotten,” he said, adding that the United States would take necessary steps to safeguard its personnel and national security interests.
