The United States military has confirmed the death of three service members and injuries to several others during an ongoing military operation targeting Iran.
In a statement released on Sunday via X, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said three soldiers were killed in action while five others sustained serious injuries during Operation Epic Fury.
“Three US service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury,” the statement read.
According to the military, several additional personnel suffered minor injuries, including shrapnel wounds and concussions, and are currently undergoing treatment before returning to duty.
The US military also disclosed that its forces bombed an Iranian warship stationed in the Gulf of Oman, adding that the vessel was sinking near a pier in Chabahar following the strike.
The latest casualties come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East after joint military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on multiple Iranian cities on Saturday.
The coordinated operation reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, alongside several senior military commanders and members of his family.
Israeli authorities described the strikes as a pre-emptive action aimed at weakening Iran’s offensive military capabilities.
In response, Iran launched drones and ballistic missiles toward Israeli territory and carried out retaliatory attacks on US military bases across parts of the Middle East, further escalating fears of a wider regional conflict.
Military officials say major combat operations remain ongoing as US forces continue response efforts in the region.
