President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, as Director of Fundraising for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment was contained in the composition of the campaign council released by the Presidency on Saturday.
Under the arrangement, Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairmen.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was named Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
As Director of Fundraising, Abiodun will be responsible for coordinating efforts to mobilise financial resources and other forms of support for the APC presidential campaign as the party prepares for the 2027 election.
The campaign council also features a team of senior political figures serving as advisers. They include former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande; veteran journalist and politician, Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were named Deputy Directors-General representing different regions.
Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau were also appointed Deputy Directors-General.
Former Edo State Governor and APC chieftain, Adams Oshiomhole, will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while the President’s Chief of Staff will supervise administration in the same capacity.
James Abiodun Faleke, who was actively involved in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, will return as Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors appointed for the six geopolitical zones. They include Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the Legal Directorate, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies.
The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors within the directorate.
Segun Dada, who also served as Director of New Media during the 2022 campaign, has been reappointed to the position, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of the New Media Directorate.
The council also named five spokespersons, with Dele Alake as the lead spokesperson. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work diligently towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
The President also urged leaders of the various directorates to engage other party members who were not included in the formal list, stressing that their contributions would be important to the campaign.
Tinubu said the APC-led Federal Government had fulfilled its campaign promises and placed the country on a path of economic progress.
He tasked the campaign team with effectively communicating the administration’s policies and achievements while building confidence among Nigerians ahead of the election.
