A fire outbreak has been reported at the popular SPAR shopping complex in Calabar, Cross River State, on Saturday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred inside the shopping outlet, with thick smoke billowing over the area and attracting the attention of residents and passersby.
Witnesses reportedly observed flames from Barracks Road, located a short distance from the shopping complex, as the fire appeared to spread within the premises.
Firefighters have arrived at the scene and are working to contain the blaze and prevent it from extending to surrounding buildings and facilities.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been established.
There was also no immediate official confirmation on whether anyone was injured or the extent of damage to the shopping complex.
Emergency response efforts were still ongoing as of press time, with further details expected as authorities assess the situation and work to bring the fire under control.
