Presidency Says Trump’s Letter Confirms Tinubu’s Progress on Security

The Presidency has described the recent letter from United States President Donald Trump to President Bola Tinubu as further validation of the progress being recorded under the current administration.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television.

His comments followed Trump’s letter to Tinubu, in which the US President reportedly commended the Nigerian leader for what he described as his decisive leadership and efforts to tackle the country’s security challenges.

Reacting to the development, Bwala said the message from the American President reflected growing international recognition of the administration’s performance.

“Facts speak for themselves. The letter is further proof of the progress we are making,” Bwala said.

He maintained that while the correspondence was encouraging, it would not alter the government’s commitment to implementing its policies and strengthening bilateral engagement with the United States.

“Does it mean if there was no letter, we would stop? No, because we are already engaging and communicating with them,” he said.

Drawing an analogy, Bwala likened the letter to words of encouragement exchanged in a relationship, saying such gestures reinforce commitment rather than create it.

“If you are in a relationship with someone and, because of that relationship, you receive a letter of encouragement, it gives you greater confidence, but it does not change your commitment,” he added.

The Presidency has consistently maintained that the Tinubu administration remains focused on addressing Nigeria’s security and economic challenges while strengthening diplomatic ties with international partners.
