In a statement issued on Wednesday, Temokun disclosed that Abidemi arrived in Akure late Tuesday night and later visited his office alongside her mother on Wednesday afternoon.
According to him, the visit was marked by relief, gratitude, and joy after the ordeal surrounding her release.
Temokun thanked several Nigerians who provided financial and moral support during the period, noting that although some donors preferred to remain anonymous, their contributions played a significant role in assisting the family.
He also acknowledged the intervention of activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, who helped facilitate Abidemi’s safe return home.
According to the lawyer, Sowore insisted that the student should not travel long distance by road after her release and personally funded her flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos. From Lagos, he further arranged and paid for a chartered vehicle that conveyed her safely to Akure when no flight was available to the Ondo State capital.
Temokun described the gesture as an act of concern and solidarity that deserves sincere appreciation.
Abidemi, who hails from Ilawe Ekiti in Ekiti Southwest but grew up in Akure, was described as an outstanding student with an impressive academic record.
According to the statement, she scored five A1s in her O’Level examinations, recorded 310 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME, and achieved a perfect 5.0 CGPA in her first-year medical studies.
Temokun said the student’s ambition is to become a medical doctor, stressing that efforts are underway to ensure her education continues without interruption.
He therefore called on the Ekiti State Government, well-meaning Ekiti indigenes, educational foundations, and other Nigerians to support Abidemi in securing admission into another institution where she can continue her medical training.
The lawyer added that further updates would be provided as progress is made regarding her educational pathway.
