In a major social welfare intervention, the wife of the Jigawa State Governor, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi, has sponsored a mass wedding for 300 less-privileged orphans from across the state’s 27 local government areas.

The initiative, designed to support vulnerable families and empower orphaned youths, saw 150 couples officially united during a colourful ceremony held in Dutse, the state capital.

The large-scale event is being regarded as one of the biggest government-backed mass weddings organised in recent years, highlighting the state government’s focus on social protection, family stability, and community development.

The brides and grooms appeared in coordinated outfits provided through the office of the First Lady, adding elegance and cultural significance to the ceremony.

Organisers said the programme forms part of broader efforts by the Jigawa State Government to ease hardship among vulnerable citizens and promote social inclusion across communities.
