JUST IN: APC Disqualifies 14 House of Representatives Aspirants After Screening Exercise

The All Progressives Congress has officially released the names of House of Representatives aspirants who failed to secure clearance to participate in the party’s primary elections following the conclusion of its screening exercise.

In a press statement issued in Abuja on May 16, 2026, and signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, the ruling party stated that the affected aspirants participated in the screening process but were subsequently not cleared in line with the party’s established guidelines and procedures.

According to the document released by the APC National Secretariat located at Buhari House, Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, a total of 14 aspirants from different states across the country were disqualified from contesting the House of Representatives primary election.

The list of aspirants not cleared by the party includes:

1. Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen — Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
2. Olusegun Victor Ategbole — Akoko South-East/South-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
3. Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo — Akoko South-East/South-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
4. Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel — Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
5. Morufu Tosin Ibrahim — Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
6. Oseni Oyeniyi — Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
7. Olaleye John Adedipe — Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State.
8. Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Bello — Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Bauchi State.
9. Hon. Idu Igariwe — Afikpo-Edda Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State.
10. Sanni Salau Ogembe — Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, Kogi State.
11. Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara (Rtd.) — Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, Rivers State.
12. Hon. Anderson Allison Igbiki — Okrika/Ogu/Bolo Federal Constituency, Rivers State.
13. Awaji Imombek D. Abirite — Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency, Rivers State.
14. Hon. Boma Goodhead — Asari-Toru/Akulu-Toru Federal Constituency, Rivers State.

Although the APC did not publicly disclose the specific reasons behind the disqualification of the aspirants, the party maintained that the screening exercise was conducted strictly in accordance with internal procedures and guidelines governing the nomination process.

The development has already generated political reactions within affected constituencies and among party supporters, especially in states where some of the disqualified aspirants are regarded as influential political figures with strong grassroots support.

Political analysts believe the outcome of the screening process may trigger fresh alignments, negotiations and consultations ahead of the party’s primary elections as aspirants and stakeholders continue strategic engagements across the country.
