Reno Omokri, then presidential aide and a social commentator has made the public allegations against the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and his family, saying they had questions about the disappearance of the so called Dadiyata, Abubakar Idris.
Omokri on his Facebook page quoted previous remarks, allegedly made by El-Rufa’i and his son, Bashir El-Rufa’i, indicating that remarks made by both are alarming in the light of the fact that Dadiyata had not made any statement since August 2, 2019.
Omokri quoted a previous statement of El-Rufa’i, wherein the latter governor was quoted saying that whoever tried to criminalise him, ought to know that he had a fight on his hands till one of us is dead.
He further cited the social media posts that were allegedly posted by Bashir El-Rufa’i in December 2019 and which Omokri construed to justify or contextualise the disappearance of Dadiyata. Also, Omokri mentioned other controversial statements made by Bashir such as threats to social media users.
Dadiyata is a vocal government critic who has not been seen publicly since his alleged disappearance of about seven years ago a case that has still been a subject of debate and investigation calls by the people.
Even now, as I write this report, Nasir El-Rufa’i himself, or his sons, have not sent fresh replies to the recent attacks of Omokri. No publicly available court decision can connect either the former governor or his family directly with the disappearance of Dadiyata.
It is an issue of national interest, and different quarters have been calling out on the issue to bring clarity and accountability.
