The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has urged his supporters to accept money offered by politicians but vote according to their conscience.
Makinde spoke on Saturday at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Bauchi State, where he advised supporters not to feel guilty about collecting money from politicians while remaining loyal to their preferred candidate.
“Don’t bother at all. When they bring money, it is your money. Collect it, but vote with your heart. I know your heart is with us and the APM,” he said.
The governor pledged to reset Nigeria’s economy, security architecture and socio-political environment if elected president.
He urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the state of the country to support his “Reset Nigeria” agenda.
“If you are not happy with the way things are in our country today, if you are not happy that there is not enough inclusivity, and if you are not happy that your government cannot tell you the truth or handle issues with sincerity, then there is only one path for us—and that is to reset Nigeria. I am asking you today to become a resetter,” Makinde said.
Also speaking at the rally, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, said the politics of lies, deceit and hypocrisy was threatening Nigeria’s democracy.
He said the APM’s reset agenda was designed to address these challenges and ensure that elected officials remained committed to honesty and sincerity.
The party’s national leader and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said the APM had practical solutions to Nigeria’s problems.
Mohammed said he was supporting Makinde’s presidential bid because the governor had demonstrated hard work and a commitment to carrying everyone along.
The rally attracted party supporters dressed in APM colours, as well as party leaders, including the national chairman.
