2027: Even If They Kidnap Us All, There’s No Vacancy in Aso Rock — Okpebholo

By Opeyemi Adelakun

Governor Monday Okpebholo has accused opposition parties of exploiting insecurity to undermine the administration of President Bola Tinubu, declaring that there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock” ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Tuesday during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the forthcoming local government elections in Edo South Senatorial District, Okpebholo alleged that some political opponents were using kidnapping and insecurity as political tools.

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. They can even kidnap all of us, but there is no vacancy in Aso Rock,” the governor said.

He argued that insecurity would not translate into electoral success for opposition parties, questioning the rationale behind attacks and abductions that affect ordinary citizens.

“What is happening today is the handiwork of the opposition. They have failed. Is it by kidnapping children? Then who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern,” he stated.

The governor maintained that President Tinubu’s policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, were already yielding developmental benefits across the country and in Edo State.

Okpebholo also expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects, saying victories in the upcoming council polls would strengthen the party’s push to deliver substantial votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Also speaking at the event, Edo APC chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, urged party candidates to campaign on the achievements of the state government and replicate developmental projects at the grassroots level.

The event featured the unveiling of APC candidates for Edo South, including Ogbeide Ihama, Paddy Iyamu and Omorede Igbinedion.

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the state’s local government elections for July 11, 2026.
