The widow of slain Oyo teacher, Mrs. Mary Oyedokun, has emotionally appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to recover the remains of her husband, Mr. Michael Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed during the recent school attack in Oyo State.
Oyo State, Nigeria — Friday, May 22, 2026. Mrs. Oyedokun made the plea in an emotional video released days after armed men attacked schools in Oriire Local Government Area, abducting teachers, pupils, and other residents.
She appealed to authorities to help retrieve her husband’s body so the family could give him a proper burial and preserve his memory for future generations.
Mr. Michael Oyedokun, a Mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, was among those abducted during coordinated attacks on schools within the area. Reports later emerged that he was killed by the attackers, sparking outrage and widespread condemnation across the country.
The grieving widow, speaking in Yoruba language, said she wanted her husband to have a burial site that family members and loved ones could visit in the future.
Her emotional appeal has continued to generate sympathy and anger among Nigerians over worsening insecurity and repeated attacks on schools and rural communities.
Meanwhile, security agencies have continued rescue operations for other victims still in captivity, while Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have condemned the killing and assured Nigerians that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible and secure the release of remaining abductees.
