Former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied allegations that he is secretly working for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Abuja, Nigeria — Friday, May 22, 2026. Kwankwaso dismissed the claims while reacting to comments made by political figures in Kano, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
He maintained that his political movement remains focused on its own agenda and not aligned with Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The former presidential candidate also clarified that although he maintains a longstanding personal relationship with Tinubu, such friendship should not be interpreted as political cooperation or endorsement for the 2027 election.
Kwankwaso’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and coalition talks involving opposition figures ahead of the next general elections.
Recent reports have linked him to various political negotiations and alliance discussions involving emerging opposition platforms and political blocs across the country.
