We Are Ready For Long War That Could Destroy the World Economy – Iran Declares

By George Omagbemi Sylvester

A senior Iranian military official, Ali Fadavi, adviser to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has warned that Iran is prepared for a prolonged war with the United States and Israel, cautioning that such a conflict could devastate the global economy. The warning was issued during an interview broadcast on Iranian state television on Thursday, March 12, 2026, amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East.

Fadavi said Washington and its allies must consider the possibility of “a long-term war of attrition that will destroy the entire American economy and the world economy.” The statement came as Iran intensified military actions in the Persian Gulf, including attacks on commercial vessels and threats against ships linked to Western allies.

The warning follows weeks of escalating conflict triggered by U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, which significantly heightened tensions across the region and disrupted shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage that carries roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.

Energy markets have already reacted sharply, with oil prices surging and governments considering emergency measures to stabilize supply chains and global trade. Analysts warn that any prolonged disruption to oil flows through the Gulf could trigger a severe economic shock affecting energy prices, inflation, and international commerce.

The situation underscores growing fears that the expanding Middle East conflict could have far-reaching economic consequences beyond the region, potentially shaking global financial stability.
