Social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has challenged the Nigeria Police Force to provide evidence supporting its claim that it invited him to appear before the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in connection with an ongoing investigation involving Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Jimoh Moshood.
The challenge follows a statement issued by the police on August 4, 2026, in which the Force said the FCID had invited the activist to assist its investigation after allegations were made against the senior police officer.
According to the police, an invitation letter dated July 30, 2026, was formally issued to VDM, requesting his presence at the FCID headquarters in Abuja.
However, in a post on his social media platform, the activist denied receiving the invitation and questioned the police’s assertion.
“Debunking one of the lies in the police press release @nigeriapoliceforce CAN YOU POST evidence showing the number you sent the invitation dated 30th July? 2:- for transparency of the panels somethings must be put in place 3:- people that are wondering how I got all these evidence let me tell you ‘I’m Here To Debunk The Falsehoods Ans Lies In The Police Press Release About Me And AIG Jimoh Moshood,’” VDM said.
His response has generated debate on social media, with users expressing differing opinions over the controversy. While some supported his demand for transparency in the investigation, others urged the public to allow the police to conclude their inquiry before drawing conclusions.
The Nigeria Police Force had yet to respond to VDM’s latest claims as of the time of filing this report.
