US Takes Over Venezuela After Military Attack, Trump Announces

By Charles Maduka

United States President Donald Trump has said the US will take control of Venezuela following a military operation that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife after airstrikes on the capital, Caracas.

Trump made the statement after a lightning military assault in which US special forces seized Maduro during a bombing raid that targeted key military locations across the city. He said the United States would now “run” Venezuela with a selected group of officials and confirmed that American troops could be deployed in the country.

According to Trump, the operation was aimed at removing Maduro from power and gaining access to Venezuela’s vast oil resources. He said major US oil companies would be brought in to repair the country’s infrastructure and begin large-scale oil production, adding that the United States was not afraid to place troops on the ground if necessary.

The US president also shared images showing Maduro in custody aboard a US naval vessel, stating that the Venezuelan leader and his wife were being taken to New York to face charges related to narcotics trafficking and terrorism. He claimed the operation was carried out without any loss of US military personnel.

International reactions have been swift, with the United Nations expressing concern that international law may have been violated. China strongly condemned the attack, while France warned that Venezuela’s crisis should not be resolved through foreign force.

The military action has sparked global debate over the legality of the operation and the future of Venezuela, as questions grow over US intentions, long-term presence, and the impact on regional and global stability.
