The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has commenced the refund of unused electricity credits to customers whose obsolete meters were replaced under the Distribution Sector Recovery Programme (DISREP) metering initiative.
The refund exercise is aimed at providing relief to customers who had unused electricity units on their old meters before receiving new DISREP meters.
In a statement issued by its management on Wednesday, YEDC said the refunds are being processed in batches following the submission of obsolete meters and verification of customers’ meter details.
“The refund is being processed in batches based on the submission of obsolete meters and successful verification of the relevant meter information,” the company stated.
YEDC disclosed that refunds for 501 customers have already been processed, while another batch of eligible customers is currently undergoing verification.
The company advised customers who surrendered obsolete meters containing unused credit units to visit their designated vending points to claim their refunded tokens.
Customers whose names are not included in the current batch have been urged to remain patient, as their refunds will be processed in subsequent batches after the necessary verification and validation procedures are completed.
YEDC said the exercise is part of efforts to reconcile customers’ credit balances following the transition from obsolete meters to the new DISREP metering system.
The electricity distribution company appealed for continued cooperation from customers as the refund process continues and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all eligible consumers receive the credits owed to them.
Customers seeking further information were advised to contact YEDC through its customer service line on 07000422559.
