US President Donald Trump has said the United States possesses sufficient weapons stockpiles to sustain a prolonged conflict, declaring that wars “can be fought ‘forever’” using existing supplies.
In a post published shortly before midnight in Washington, D.C. (0500 GMT) on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the US maintains a “virtually unlimited supply” of what he described as “medium and upper medium grade” munitions.
“We have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. The United States is stocked, and ready to WIN, BIG!!!” he wrote.
Trump’s comments come amid heightened global tensions and ongoing US military engagements abroad. While he did not specify which conflicts he was referring to, the remarks signal confidence in the country’s defense manufacturing capacity and weapons reserves.
In the same post, Trump criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, accusing him of supplying Ukraine with “so much of the super high end” US weaponry during his administration.
Toward the end of his four-year term, Biden authorized Ukraine to use advanced long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems, commonly known as ATACMS.
The powerful missile systems are capable of striking targets up to 190 miles (300 kilometers) away and were seen as a significant boost to Ukraine’s battlefield capabilities.
Trump’s latest remarks are likely to intensify debate in Washington over US military readiness, defense spending, and continued support for Ukraine, as policymakers weigh strategic priorities in an increasingly volatile global security environment.
