U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the ongoing military campaign against Iran might continue for up to about four weeks or more, acknowledging that the conflict (which has already drawn the United States and Israel into sustained strikes) may not end quickly. Trump made the remarks in recent public comments as the Middle East situation deteriorates into broader hostilities following U.S.‑led air operations against Iranian targets that have escalated tensions throughout the region.
The president told reporters that what was initially planned as a four‑week offensive could extend longer as necessary to neutralise Iran’s military infrastructure, including missile sites and naval assets, and to prevent future threats. Trump’s timeline reflects the unpredictable nature of the campaign, which has already seen retaliatory strikes by Iran on U.S. allies and led to increased regional instability.
Analysts say the conflict’s duration will depend on Tehran’s response, the effectiveness of U.S.‑Israeli objectives, and diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation, with fears mounting that the war could have lasting consequences beyond the projected weeks.
