British police have launched an intensive search operation for a Nigerian national, Temitope Segun, who escaped from lawful custody in London, prompting authorities to appeal to the public for information that could lead to his recapture.
According to reports, Segun absconded while under official supervision, triggering an immediate response from law enforcement agencies. The circumstances surrounding the escape remain under investigation, with security officials working to establish how the prisoner managed to evade custody.
The Metropolitan Police have described the fugitive as a priority target and urged members of the public not to approach him if sighted but instead report any information directly to the authorities. Officers have intensified searches across London and surrounding areas while reviewing surveillance footage and other intelligence.
Prison escapes are relatively rare in the United Kingdom and often attract significant attention due to concerns about public safety and the integrity of the criminal justice system.
Authorities have assured residents that every available resource is being deployed to locate and apprehend the escapee.
As the manhunt continues, police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and bringing the fugitive back into custody.
The case has also renewed discussions about prison security, offender supervision, and measures aimed at preventing future escape incidents within the UK’s correctional system.
