Trump Pays Tribute As Remains Of Slain US Troop Return To America

Donald Trump on Saturday attended the solemn return of the bodies of the first six American soldiers killed in the escalating war involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The ceremony took place at Dover Air Force Base, where the remains of US troops who die overseas are traditionally brought back to American soil.

Trump, wearing a white “USA” baseball cap and joined by several members of his cabinet, stood in silence and saluted as each flag-draped casket was carefully carried from a military transport plane.

The six soldiers were killed last Sunday when a drone attack struck a key US command centre in Kuwait. The incident occurred just one day after the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military campaign against Iran.

Their deaths mark the first confirmed American military casualties since the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran began.

Meanwhile, the United States has also condemned Iran over another drone strike carried out earlier this week near the Azerbaijan border.

According to the United States Department of State, the drone attack targeted an airport and a school in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region, which borders Iran, leaving several civilians injured.

US officials described the strike as an unnecessary escalation of aggression by Iran during the already tense Middle East conflict.

State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the attack violated Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and warned that any assault on American allies in the region would not be tolerated.

He added that the United States would continue to stand firmly with its partners and respond strongly to threats against them.
