U.S. President Donald J. Trump has declared that a “deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” announcing a series of sweeping maritime and energy-related directives in a social media post on his Truth Social account.
In the post shared at 5:29 p.m. on June 14, 2026 US time, Trump said he was “fully authorizing the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz” and simultaneously ordering the “immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,” adding that the move would allow global shipping activity to resume without restriction.
“Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump wrote, framing the announcement as a breakthrough agreement and signaling an apparent easing of tensions around one of the world’s most strategic maritime corridors.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil shipments, has long been a flashpoint in geopolitical tensions involving Iran and Western powers. Trump’s statement did not provide details of the agreement referenced, nor did it outline any formal confirmation from Iranian authorities or U.S. government agencies at the time of publication.
