The Ondo State Government has constituted a Technical Committee to review all legal, administrative and operational issues surrounding the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ) project and advise the government on the appropriate way forward.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa announced the establishment of the committee on Monday as part of efforts to assess the current status of the long-standing economic development initiative.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the committee is chaired by Chief Bode Sunmonu, while the Chief Executive Officer of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), Mr. Emmanuel Omomowo, will serve as Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Barrister Yinka Orokoto, Mr. Sola Adebisi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Idowu Ojo, and Engr. Femi Akarakiri, Director at ONDIPA.
The committee has been assigned specific Terms of Reference, including the review of legal matters relating to the project, stakeholder engagement, land verification, community relations, inter-state coordination, as well as any other issues that may be referred to it by the state government.
The Olokola Free Trade Zone project is regarded as a strategic economic initiative aimed at attracting investment, promoting industrial development and creating employment opportunities in Ondo State and beyond.
The committee is expected to submit recommendations that will guide the government’s decisions on the future of the project.
