Premier League champions Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes after the Newcastle United star successfully completed his medical ahead of the proposed transfer.

The 28-year-old is expected to join the Gunners in a deal worth £75 million after Arsenal reached an agreement with Newcastle United for his transfer.

Guimaraes is set to sign a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium, with an option to extend his stay by an additional year.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already held talks with the Brazilian midfielder and is said to be delighted with the imminent arrival of a player he has long admired.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development in a post on his official X account.

According to Romano, Guimaraes has completed his medical examinations and will soon put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Arsenal.

He added that Arteta personally spoke with the midfielder and is excited to finally secure the services of a player he has wanted for several years.

An official announcement from Arsenal is expected in the coming days.
