A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has threatened legal action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over allegations linking his Abuja residence to funds from Rivers State.
George made the declaration during an appearance on TVC News on Wednesday night while reacting to comments made by Wike during a recent media chat in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor had challenged the PDP elder statesman to explain how he acquired a house in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory, alleging that the property was financed with money from Rivers State.
Dismissing the allegation as false, George vowed to seek legal redress against the FCT minister.
“How was my house in Abuja bought with Rivers fund? I’m going to take him to court. I’m sure he was high on something,” George said.
The PDP chieftain also launched a personal attack on Wike, alleging that the minister had been disowned by his father.
“He is just the same age as my first child. Go and find out what his father did to him and what he did to his father. In Africa, do you know what it means when your biological father disowns you?” he said.
George further insisted that he did not build the Maitama property but purchased it legitimately, stressing that he had no connection with Rivers State funds.
“He is talking absolute rubbish. I didn’t even build a house, I bought the house and it is still there. Am I from Rivers State that I will go there and collect funds? I’m not like him,” he added.
The exchange marks the latest escalation in the war of words between the two PDP chieftains, with George’s threat of legal action coming in response to Wike’s public allegations.
