Tragedy has struck the Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU), following the death of Isabella Hassan, a 400-level student of the institution, in a fatal road accident along the MAU Road near Sangere Futy, Adamawa State.
Isabella was reportedly on her way home on Wednesday to visit her parents at the Army Barracks when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the final-year student was struck by a moving truck, leaving her fatally injured.
Her death has thrown her family, friends, coursemates and the university community into mourning, particularly as she was reportedly close to completing her undergraduate studies.
The journey, which was expected to be a joyful return home, tragically became her last, cutting short the life and aspirations of a young student who was approaching the final stage of her university education.
The incident has also raised fresh concerns over road safety along the busy MAU Road, particularly the risks posed by heavy-duty vehicles to other road users.
Friends and coursemates have continued to mourn Isabella, describing her death as a painful loss to her family and the wider university community.
