The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has released a traffic advisory ahead of a mini-marathon organised in support of President Bola Tinubu, scheduled to take place on Sunday in parts of Agege, Lagos.

In a statement shared on its official X handle on Sunday, LASTMA said the marathon will start from Agege Local Government Area and move inward Odo Eran, passing through Oba Ogunji to Oke Koto, Oniwaya and Dopemu.

The agency said the route will further extend from Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road to Agbotikuyo, connecting Old Ipaja Motor Road before ending at Orile Agege in the Orile Agege Local Council Development Area.

According to LASTMA, vehicular movement along the affected roads will be restricted during the event, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

The agency advised that vehicles coming from Wemco Road should pass through Ogba to Excellent Hotel, connect to College Road and proceed to Iju Road to continue their journey.

It also stated that vehicles coming from Pen Cinema should go through Moshalashi Alhaja, link Mobil Ashade and continue their movement.

The mini-marathon, tagged ‘Run for Asiwaju 2027,’ was organised by the Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area under the leadership of its chairman, Mr Dipo Liadi.

The event is aimed at promoting unity, discovering athletic talents and mobilising grassroots support for President Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the next general elections.

Organisers said participants were drawn from various categories, including youths, professionals, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, VIPs and representatives of Hausa and Igbo communities, to ensure inclusiveness.

It was stated that prizes worth a total of ₦2.3 million would be awarded, with the first 200 finishers receiving ₦10,000 each, while seven elite athletes would receive ₦50,000 each.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, who is a major supporter of the event, had earlier announced his participation in the VIP category and described the marathon as a symbol of President Tinubu’s transformative leadership.

In a statement shared on his X handle, Obasa said the marathon would reward excellence, noting that 200 participants would receive ₦10,000 each, while seven professional athletes would earn ₦50,000 each.

LASTMA urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officials deployed for the event and to properly plan their movements to avoid unnecessary delays.
