The Federal Government has assured that Americans and US facilities in Nigeria are secure, despite escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
This assurance comes as Iran increases its retaliatory actions following recent military engagements involving the US and Israel, which have raised global security alarms.
Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that there have been no reports of threats against American citizens or diplomatic missions in Nigeria.
“The United States Embassy has not reported any threats to their facility, and Abuja remains safe. There is no danger to Americans, the embassy, or anything of the sort,” Ebienfa affirmed.
This reassurance follows incidents in other nations where pro-Iranian protesters allegedly attempted to storm US diplomatic facilities in Pakistan and Iraq as the conflict escalated.
In the meantime, the US government has issued a global security alert urging its citizens to stay vigilant. The advisory warned of potential travel disruptions and airspace closures due to US military operations in Iran.
Americans, particularly those in the Middle East and other sensitive areas, are advised to heed instructions from the nearest US embassy or consulate and to exercise heightened caution.
Nigeria’s stance reflects President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to alleviate concerns and maintain diplomatic stability amid the ongoing crisis.
Security agencies are reportedly monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety of diplomatic missions and foreign nationals throughout the country.
