Tinubu Cannot Wear Kaki And Fight, He Has Done His Best – Adeboye Defends Tinubu

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism over the country’s worsening insecurity, saying the president cannot be expected to personally confront terrorists on the battlefield.

Adeboye made the remarks while speaking at the U.S.-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, where he said Tinubu had fulfilled his constitutional responsibility by issuing directives to the nation’ss security agencies.

The cleric argued that expecting the Commander-in-Chief to wear military uniform and lead troops into battle was unrealistic.

“I don’t support those accusing the president of not doing enough. When the Commander-in-Chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and fight,” Adeboye said.

He drew a comparison with the United States, noting that President Donald Trump also issues military directives without personally participating in combat operations.

Despite defending Tinubu, Adeboye acknowledged that insecurity in Nigeria had worsened, lamenting that terrorism, kidnapping and violent attacks had spread from the North to the South.

He said the situation had become so severe that many people were asking, “Where is your God?” adding that those sponsoring terrorist activities were widely known but continued to operate freely.

Adeboye disclosed that he had discussed the security situation with President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, urging the president to give military commanders a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorism or resign.

“I told him to tell all the military people: ‘You have 90 days. Wipe out this rubbish or resign.’ Then go after the sponsors,” he said.

The cleric stressed that defeating terrorism required targeting those financing and supplying weapons to criminal groups, rather than focusing only on the fighters.

He added that some of the alleged sponsors were influential businessmen and politicians, urging the government to investigate and prosecute them.

Adeboye also called for stronger international cooperation in tackling terrorism, urging the United States and other countries to support Nigeria’s efforts to improve national security.
