President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on political leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders in Plateau State to return to their communities with renewed dedication to peacebuilding efforts, urging collective action to end the recurring cycle of violence and killings in the region.
April 29, 2026 — The President made the appeal in response to ongoing security challenges that have continued to affect several communities in Plateau State, stressing that sustainable peace can only be achieved through cooperation, dialogue, and responsible leadership at all levels.
Tinubu emphasized that insecurity in the state has long demanded urgent attention, noting that repeated outbreaks of violence undermine development, displace families, and weaken social cohesion.
He urged stakeholders to prioritize reconciliation and strengthen local mechanisms for conflict resolution.
The President further reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting security agencies and state authorities in restoring lasting stability, while encouraging communities to reject reprisals and embrace peaceful coexistence as a pathway to progress and recovery.
