President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other Gulf countries of Nigeria’s solidarity following recent attacks linked to the ongoing U.S./Israel–Iran conflict.
The statement was made on April 23, 2026, at the State House in Abuja, when Tinubu received letters of credence from several ambassadors and high commissioners, including envoys from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
According to the President, Nigeria stands with countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan, commending their resilience and restraint amid rising regional tensions.
He said: “The Federal Republic of Nigeria expresses its full solidarity in the face of the recent attacks and we will always strive for peace and stability across the world.”
Tinubu also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to global peace, stressing the need for cooperation among nations to address security and economic challenges arising from the conflict.
The assurance comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, where the Iran conflict has raised concerns over regional stability, energy security, and global economic impact.
Nigeria’s position reflects a diplomatic stance of solidarity and neutrality (supporting affected allies while advocating peace) rather than direct involvement in the conflict, consistent with its broader foreign policy approach.
