Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called on Nigerians to reject President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election, citing worsening insecurity and governance challenges.
Sowore made the remarks on April 22, 2026, during a public engagement, where he criticised the current administration’s handling of security issues across the country. He warned that continued support for the government could deepen the nation’s challenges.
According to him, Nigerians must take responsibility for leadership choices, urging voters to prioritise accountability and national interest in future elections.
His comments come amid ongoing concerns over insecurity, economic hardship, and public dissatisfaction in parts of the country.
Sowore, who has consistently positioned himself as a critic of the administration, maintained that a change in leadership is necessary to address what he described as systemic failures in governance.
The statement aligns with his broader political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections, where he has indicated interest in contesting for the presidency.
