In a congratulatory message dated March 7, 2026, Hon. Sheba, the former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, described the appointment as well-deserved, highlighting Ibrahim’s distinguished career in public service, academia, and business.
The lawyer and prominent politician stated that the appointment comes at a critical juncture in international relations, when the global community faces complex challenges, including security concerns, climate change, economic inequality, and sustainable development.
“I encourage you to utilise this platform to strengthen Nigeria’s voice in global governance, promote Africa’s collective interests, and champion issues that directly affect developing nations—particularly equitable economic development, fair global financial systems, climate justice, and international security,” he said.

Dr. Sheba expressed confidence that Ibrahim possesses the necessary knowledge and diplomatic experience to advance Nigeria’s interests while contributing to global peace and cooperation.
He urged the senator to leverage his position to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic partnerships, expand opportunities for Nigerian professionals within the UN system, and promote the country’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.
Dr. Sheba wished the senator success in his new role and expressed hope that his tenure would bring honour to Nigeria and pride to the people of the Ondo South Senatorial District.
