Hon. Eugene Ekpelle, Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area in Rivers State, has been accused by his former media aide, Minnie Ogadinma, of allegedly ordering an attack on her after she posted a viral video exposing the poor condition of a community secondary school in Odioku.
The controversy became public on Tuesday, March 4, 2026, after Ogadinma narrated the alleged assault and the circumstances that led to it. She explained that the dispute began days earlier when she visited Community Secondary School in Odioku, Ahoada West LGA, and recorded a video showing the dilapidated state of the facility, including the absence of chairs and a damaged roof.
According to her account, the chairman later visited her residence on Sunday evening accompanied by his brother and other associates, accusing her of attempting to tarnish his reputation online. She alleged that the chairman instructed his brother, Monday Cheta, to “teach her a lesson,” after which she was physically assaulted before neighbours intervened.
Ogadinma said both she and her mother sustained injuries during the altercation and that she was dismissed from her role the same day. However, the council chairman has denied the allegations, describing them as false and malicious.
