Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has been presented with a brand-new Toyota Camry by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, in recognition of her courage and resilience after surviving 56 days in captivity.
Alamu was among the teachers abducted alongside pupils during the May 2026 attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire. The victims were later rescued after spending nearly two months in the custody of their abductors.
During the presentation of the vehicle, Senator Alli praised the principal for her courage, composure and dedication to protecting the pupils throughout the traumatic ordeal.
He described the donation as a symbol of appreciation for her bravery and a gesture of solidarity with victims of insecurity.
According to him, the gift is intended to support Mrs. Alamu as she rebuilds her life and resumes her educational duties.
The APC governorship candidate also stressed that teachers who continue to serve in challenging and insecure environments deserve greater recognition and support from society.
Mrs. Alamu reportedly endured immense hardship during captivity and was allegedly forced by the kidnappers to feature in several videos used to communicate with authorities and the public while demands were being made.
The rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers brought relief to their families, residents of Oriire Local Government Area and the wider Oyo State after weeks of anxiety.
Residents and community stakeholders commended Senator Alli’s gesture, describing it as a compassionate intervention and a fitting recognition of the sacrifices made by teachers serving in vulnerable communities.
