The Presidency has dismissed rumors circulating on social media that a kitchen staff member at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa was caught attempting to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, clarified on X on Sunday that these claims are false.
A video circulating online purportedly shows events at the presidential villa, accompanied by a voiceover alleging a poisoning plot and police involvement.
The video claimed that a chef was arrested based on intelligence regarding suspicious food preparation, suggesting a covert security operation. However, Onanuga refuted these allegations, stating:
“No Aso Rock kitchen staff has been arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this false information being spread by this video.”
The authorities have not disclosed the source of the misleading video or the reason for its dissemination.
