The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspected illicit drug dealers and recovered substances valued at ₦6.2 million during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, by operatives of the command’s Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following what police described as credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug dealers operating in the area.
The suspects were identified as 47-year-old Nzube Onyedikachukwu, also known as “Onyeoma,” and 20-year-old Ugochukwu Azia.
According to the police, operatives stormed the suspected hideout and conducted a search, recovering a large quantity of substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa, methamphetamine and other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of ₦6.2 million. Police also recovered ₦598,400 in cash.
Preliminary investigation reportedly indicates that the suspects were allegedly involved in drug distribution, while the location was allegedly used as a gathering point by suspected criminal elements. Some individuals reportedly fled after sighting the police.
The two suspects remain in police custody as investigation continues to determine the source and distribution network of the suspected drugs and identify other persons allegedly connected to the operation.
