Osun Election: APC Rejects Adeleke’s Victory, Begins Audit of Results

By George Omagbemi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, insisting that he did not secure the highest number of valid votes.

The APC’s Osun governorship campaign Director-General, Oluwole Oke, disclosed the party’s position on Monday, August 17, 2026, saying the party had commenced an audit of the election results before deciding on its next step.

According to Oke, APC agents have been directed to submit copies of Forms EC8A, EC8B and EC8C to the party’s secretariat for examination and comparison with the results announced by INEC.

INEC declared Adeleke, the Accord candidate, winner after he polled 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

Oke said the APC would not rush to congratulate Adeleke until it completed its review of the electoral documents.

The development raises the possibility of a legal challenge if the party’s audit produces evidence capable of overturning the declared result.
