Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the recruitment of more than 2,000 teachers into public primary and secondary schools across Ondo State in a major effort to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education.
The recruitment exercise is aimed at reducing the burden on existing teachers, improving teacher-to-student ratios, and ensuring that schools have adequate personnel to deliver effective learning outcomes. Education stakeholders have long expressed concern over shortages of qualified teachers in many public schools, particularly in rural communities.
According to the state government, the newly recruited teachers will be deployed across various local government areas where staffing gaps have negatively affected teaching and learning. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen classroom instruction, improve academic performance, and create a more conducive environment for students.
The development is also expected to provide employment opportunities for qualified graduates seeking careers in the education sector.
