The Ondo State Government has warned fuel marketers in the state against creating artificial scarcity by shutting down filling stations despite having petroleum products in stock.
The warning was issued in a statement by the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Johnson Jaiyeola Alabi.
According to the commissioner, the government observed that some marketers were deliberately closing their stations in a move capable of sabotaging economic activities across the state.
Alabi clarified that the state government is not opposed to fuel being sold at the prevailing market price but stressed that marketers must avoid actions capable of triggering panic buying among residents.
He cautioned that any filling station found deliberately creating artificial scarcity would face decisive action in accordance with the law.
The commissioner added that the government would continue to monitor fuel distribution across the state to ensure uninterrupted supply and prevent disruptions to economic activities.
