Ondo Begins Issuance Of Appointment Letters To 637 Absorbed Teachers

By Paul Joseph

The Ondo State Government has commenced the distribution of appointment letters to 637 teachers absorbed into the state’s public education system following irregularities that affected the 2025 recruitment exercise.

The Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Princess Olufunmilayo Ademulegun-Brown, announced this during the presentation of appointment letters to the beneficiaries at the board’s headquarters in Akure.

The absorption follows an earlier commitment by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to accommodate qualified applicants affected by shortcomings in the 2025 teachers’ recruitment process.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Ademulegun-Brown urged them to justify the government’s decision by demonstrating commitment, discipline and professionalism in their new roles.

She described the appointments as an opportunity for the teachers to contribute to improving educational standards, particularly in public primary schools across the state.

The ODSUBEB chairman emphasised the need for punctuality, regular attendance, proper lesson preparation and adherence to professional ethics. She also reminded the teachers of their responsibility to serve as positive examples to pupils and promote both academic achievement and moral development.

Ademulegun-Brown encouraged the new employees to approach their duties with dedication and ensure that pupils receive the quality education needed to support their future development.

The board’s Permanent Secretary, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, also urged the teachers to familiarise themselves with the institution’s operational procedures and comply with its established regulations.

She noted that discipline, diligence and effective cooperation with relevant officials were essential to delivering quality educational services.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Omotayo Abednego Arogbowei thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to join the public education workforce.

She assured the government that the teachers would work towards improving classroom instruction and contribute to the academic and moral growth of pupils in public primary schools.

The distribution of appointment letters marks a step in the state government’s effort to address the recruitment-related concerns of qualified applicants while strengthening its basic education workforce.
